If we are not too careful with our dental health we may end up having wobbly teeth and sore gums. It is necessary to practice good oral hygiene to steer clear of gum disease which could result to our teeth becoming loose or even loss of it. Brushing and flossing at least two times in a day comprise a part of the oral regimen that we should religiously follow. Follow it up with scraping our tongue clean of plaque and rinse with a mouthwash that does not contain alcohol. The said procedure will ensure half part of having strong, clean teeth and gums.
Our dentist is our best friend when it comes to caring for our mouth. Should there be any goings-on in the mouth, we turn to our dentist for medical advice. Loose teeth can be due to other reason aside from gum disease. We are looking at trauma to mouth which cause our teeth to slacken with the tremendous force applied to it. There are also dental conditions that are unavoidable but correctable such as grinding of teeth and overbite. These conditions are best consulted with our dentist for the appropriate corrections.
Treatments of loose teeth would mainly depend on the root cause of having it in the first place, however whatever the case would be, seek the advise of your dentist. Gum infections or disease can be cured by medications and/or dental procedures such as teeth scaling. This removes the calculus where bacteria may grow unhindered. For mouth trauma, splinting may be sufficient to firm up the loosened teeth. Otherwise, oral surgery may be needed for more serious cases.
Teeth can be protected from wear and tear of constant grinding by using mouth guard. This is worn during bedtime to ease up pressure on the teeth. Relaxing technique may also be employed to manage stress which may cause bruxism or the grinding of teeth. Braces and retainers can correct overbite. Misalignment of teeth creates strain on the teeth that come in contact first before the rest of the teeth. This pressure can cause undue wear on the teeth leading to loose teeth.
We must know how to take care of our dental health otherwise we end up with loose teeth or no teeth at all. When doing contact sports, make sure to wear mouth guards to prevent knocking teeth loose. We should also be thorough in our oral hygiene regimen. And fear not our dentists for they are our allies when it comes to oral health.
